From 1923 to 1933, he was an attorney for various corporations. From 1941 to 1945, he served as manager of the Continental Oil Company. Emil spoke fluent English, French, and Italian. | Son of a farmer, Dr. Ohlendorf studied at the University of Liepzig and became a leading Economist. He held a Ph.D. and was a frequent lecturer in economics issues of the day. |

Claims to fame: His guys murdered 17,256 people in Smolensk, Russia (below) in November 1941. By liquidating 500 Jews per day, he could happily report a total of 45,467 executions in Lithuania by the end of the month. Sentenced to death for crimes against humanity at Nuremberg and hanged on June 7, 1951 along with pal Ohlendorf. |
In August 1943, Dr. Thomas began the process of obliterating evidence of the mass murders at Babi Yar.
The graves were opened by bulldozers, and the corpses dragged to cremation pyres by concentration camp prisoners. The bones that did not incinerate were soon crushed using tombstones from the Jewish cemetary. Doc Thomas committed suicide in November, 1945. |
